Have you ever created your own meal right at the table inside of a pot of simmering flavorful broth? If you haven’t, then you must come to Uncle Joe’s Hong Kong Bistro and experience this with our Chinese Fire Pot. This unique dish, sometimes called a hot pot, is rooted in Chinese history and over 1,000 years old.
The concept is simple. A small pot of hot broth is brought to the table and kept warm with a small candle, or other source of fuel, at the bottom. Plates containing various ingredients such as thinly sliced meat and vegetables accompany the Chinese Fire Pot and the diners then place them in the hot broth and cook them at the table.
This dish is believed to have originated in Mongolia and the Jin Dynasty, and then later spread to southern China during the Song dynasty. Over time this dish has taken on regional variations and spread to other countries including Thailand and Indonesia.
When you order the Fire Pot at Uncle Joe’s you have the choice of two broths; spicy Sichuan or tomato. You choose your protein; surf and turf, seafood, beef (featuring 7X Wagyu), vegetarian or seafood dumplings. A plate of fresh vegetables, herbs and noodles is included, as well as two sauces which will further flavor the cooked items.
This type of fun and interactive meal is a great idea for a date. Come experience it with us at Uncle Joe’s!
