The Chinese first arrived in Denver in 1870 and settled into a neighborhood known as “Hop Alley” in Lower Downtown, around 20th and Blake Streets. Denver’s Chinatown was built up in the area but was unfortunately destroyed in the 1940’s to make room for warehouses and industrial buildings.
